The "Friends in Action" group launched in November, the Christmas 2009 project designed to assist two institutions based in Taboao da Serra, São Paulo:
At the end of the year our goal is to buy mattresses for every child. There are 130 children (from babies up to adolescents) and the best price that we have found so far for each mattress is R$ 90.00. That is why we need your help. It is sad to see the precarious conditions that the children face to sleep. A good mattress and pillow have been the number one need at the moment, and if we get more donations than needed, we will provide the school supplies (backpack, Binder and tennis) for 2010 school year.
Project Goal:
70 mattresses to the orphanage
120 pillows to all children
50 mattresses to Casa Transitoria
If you are in Sao Paulo, Brazil on December 12th, you are invited to see the delivery of what we were able to buy with this project. However if you are not around, dont worry. We will post many pictures, showing the emotion and how grateful the children will be.
